Le Morgane

Chamonix / France

The 56 bedroom Le Morgane is one of Chamonix’s newer hotels and carrying out the design and development with the environment a priority is usually much better than trying to make an old building environmentally friendly.

Le Morgane has installed heat pumps and solar panels for energy management.  It used local materials: slate, granite and wood for the building.

Staff are also trained in working in an eco-friendly way with the aim of achieving zero CO2 energy emissions.

To verify its project and to implement a real environmental management plan, the hotel Le Morgane is currently undergoing ISO 14001 certification.

Chalet Aravis

Karibuni is a small British tour operator to French ski resorts which has had a strong ‘green’ ethos since its inception.

The company encourages ski holidays by rail and through their sub-company Aravis Transfers offers guests arriving by air the ability to share airport transfers to reduce the number of journeys.

It also trains its staff to ensure they live in resort and work in an eco-friendly manner too.

Chalet Aravis features many environmentally friendly features including

Solar hot water panels for Chalet Aravis annex making considerable savings to fuel oil consumption during both summer and winter.

Additional insulation on exterior walls makes the rooms warmer and reduces heat loss.
