Chalet Company Gets Greener

Chalet holiday company Ski Beat has introduced new 100% recycled, second use R-PET plastic containers for the L’Occitane shampoo, shower gel and body lotion used within its fifty nine ski chalets in the French Alps.

The move ensures that containers used for the toiletries are 100% recyclable with no production of plastic involved.  The bottles are free from phenoxyethanol and parabens, and the products themselves contain no mineral oils, silicones or colourants and are 98% biodegradable.

The company has for some years recycled glass, plastic and paper waste from each property and shrunk its carbon footprint by reducing the mileage travelled by the foods and wines served, sourcing from local suppliers and growers as far as possible.

Newer chalets are also being constructed to more stringent environmental eco-friendly standards than ever before, for example Chalet Mont Blanc and Pierra Menta 1 and 2 in Plagne 1800 have zero-emission bio-mass heating.

“It is not an easy or an overnight process, but social responsibility to our environment is always on our agenda,” said Ski Beat’s Laura Hazell.
