In one of a number of initiatives to cut its CO2 emissions, the classic French ski resort of Megève has switched its entire ski bus fleet (known as MegBus) to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).
The ski centre, which is already famous for having a fleet of horse-drawn carriages to transport guests around its centre, says they believe this is a world first in a ski resort.
Public transport in Megève is free for all users during the ski season. Commenting on the switch to CNG by is bus fleet a resort spokesperson said,
“This will mean a huge reduction in its emissions of nitrogen oxides and fine particles. It becomes less noisy, more sustainable and results in better air quality in the village.”
